Learn how to see in the darkness

Show me my options

The world’s got dark. Black boxes run business, biotech reshaped appetites, power is shifting in silence. Based on the worlds' darkest nanomaterial, Vantablack, TBD 'VANTA' isn’t avoiding it, we’re diving in. 25+ speakers. Unique formats built for honesty, not ads. IRL in London, streamed worldwide. Darkness is where clarity begins.

Bright vertical beam of light shining upward from a dark horizon at night.

Our Mission

TBD VANTA was created for this moment; a stage where hidden systems are confronted, stripped back, and made usable for leaders who refuse paralysis.

Bold and different by design, attendees say we’re ‘Like TED...without the bs.” Now in our eighth year, TBD’s mission is to equip people with clarity in uncertainty, bravery in the dark, and optimism that moves when others stall. Optimism is not utopian. Courage means acting when others freeze. Leadership means stepping into ambiguity with intent and extracting foresight from silence.

TBD is not your usual conference. Every element has been engineered to make knowledge stick. Our formats are built with neuroscientists to maximise focus and recall. The stage is 100% editorial, digital art breaks reset your attention, and sessions unfold in a controlled sensory environment, complete with a signature scent developed with top Parisian olfactory experts.

Diverse by design, TBD has been D.I.C.E recommended since 2020. We offset our impact by adding to our forest. Nothing at TBD happens by chance, everything is designed to be remembered, recalled, and acted on.

Provocations

Technology

Technology

The frontier is no longer innovation but control. AGI in the next five years raises questions of custody and accountability rather than possibility. Quantum shock threatens to upend assumptions about security, computation, and who can access power. Autonomous futures push humans to the margins of decision-making, leaving open the issue of who benefits and who is excluded. Hidden actors already shape outcomes at scale, and superintelligence debates only distract from the concentration of influence happening out of sight. Technology’s acceleration is certain; the real unknown is who sets its direction, under what terms, and what it will mean for us all.

Behaviour

Behaviour

Human behaviour is being engineered in real time. GLP-1 drugs and biotech breakthroughs are recalibrating appetite, health, and inequality, reshaping industries from food to finance. Wealthy elites pursue billionaire upgrades, redefining what it means to age, thrive, or survive. Cultural influence is shifting too: cities designed by women propose radically different models of urban life, while accessibility beyond compliance insists on inclusion as a foundation rather than an afterthought. Health revolutions are emerging in the dark, transforming societies (and businesses) before norms and ethics can catch up. Behaviour is no longer organic; it is being coded, purchased, and redirected.

Data

Data

Data has become the arena where power is contested. Separating signal from hype now determines who can act decisively and who drowns in noise. Legal and political conflicts reveal where accountability truly lies, from lawsuits over ownership to manoeuvres hidden in policy and infrastructure. Better reels or better reality captures the stakes: are we improving knowledge or simply deepening illusion. As power geographies shift, data remains the currency that dictates who gains visibility and who remains invisible. Leaders and strategists must decide whether data is a map toward clarity or a fog that conceals the terrain entirely.
