TBD Conference : 'Mollitiam' - Wrap report
TBD ‘Mollitiam’ was TBD’s first foray into live-streaming thanks to Groovy Gecko. With a satisfaction score of 9.2/10, it’s clear the format works online and offline. Will we do another one? Possibly! TBD’s magic lies a lot in the physical and live elements along with the collective that forms on the day thanks to the people you meet and experience. Virtual could never replicate that, but we made strides to make sure we stayed true to our values (fast, focused, different, poet, inclusive) and created something special none the less.
‘Mollitam’ had a satisfaction score of 9.2/10, we dropped points for the agenda not being on the same page as the feeds, the busy WhatsApp group (sorry!), no opportunity to ask questions to speakers (TBD never does this though), lack of pre-scheduling calendar functionality and on-screen chat function oh and attendees would have liked more Apostle Coffee breaks! All has been taken on board.
One interesting highlight (mainly from previous attendees); people wanted to be made to feel more uncomfortable and challenged with perspectives that aren’t the norm. Watch this space. We won’t be adding a canned laughter or applause button though!!
Lots of firsts and announcements this year. The podcast, the limited-edition merch store, the TBD speaker bureau and the new ‘Flashcards’ talk format (which people loved!). Attendees also liked that we split it over two mornings which - even though both were work days - people could structure their work around the conference. Some feedback included stretching this out over more days which is an interesting idea. A week long TBD…does anyone have an island we can borrow?
